The farthest Russia ever got in claiming Chinese land was their northernmost territories, claimed through a series of treaties over 60 years. The only land taken by western nations was in Manchuria, and the numerous treaty ports (which were essentially bits of coastal cities leased to foreign nations for use in trade). Historically, no western nation did invade and conquer China.
